In the period of 2020-2025, Ninh Binh tourism industry has had an impressive recovery and growth after being severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The total number of tourists to Ninh Binh decreased from 2.62 million in 2020 to more than 1 million in 2021, but then recovered strongly, reaching 8.7 million in 2024 and is expected to reach 9.1 million in 2025. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the province welcomed 7.2 million visitors, equal to 117.76% over the same period last year and reaching 79.1% of the annual plan. The average growth rate of total visitors during this period reached 23.02%/year, reflecting a sustainable, stable and potential development trend. Regarding international visitors, after reaching nearly 196 thousand arrivals in 2020, the number of visitors decreased sharply due to the impact of the pandemic, to just over 13 thousand arrivals in 2021. However, from 2022 onwards, international visitors will increase again, reaching 1.5 million arrivals in 2024 and setting a target of 1.85 million arrivals in 2025. In the first 6 months of 2025, Ninh Binh welcomed more than 1.04 million international visitors, an increase of 153.7% over the same period in 2024, reaching 56.54% of the annual plan. The average growth in the period 2020-2025 reached 45.37%/year - a very impressive figure, showing the rapid and effective recovery of international tourism promotion activities, although the plan completion rate is still low, and needs to be further promoted. Domestic visitors are still the main force of the province's tourism industry. In 2020, domestic visitors reached 2.43 million and also decreased sharply in 2021, but have grown again since 2022, reaching 7.2 million in 2024 and expected to reach 7.25 million in 2025. In the first 6 months of 2025, the number of domestic visitors reached more than 6.15 million, equal to 113.25% compared to the same period in 2024 and reaching 84.88% of the annual plan. The average growth rate reached 19.99%/year, demonstrating the pivotal role of the domestic market in the recovery and development of Ninh Binh tourism. Tourism revenue also grew remarkably. From VND 1,584 billion in 2020, revenue decreased to VND 682 billion in 2021, but reached VND 9,173 billion in 2024 and the plan for 2025 is VND 10,000 billion. The first 6 months of 2025 brought in VND 7,700 billion in revenue, an increase of 132.42% over the same period in 2024 and reaching 77% of the plan. In particular, the average revenue growth reached 35.95%/year - much higher than the growth rate of visitors, reflecting the trend of increasing average spending of tourists, improved service quality and better investment efficiency./.
