Big wave of visitors flock to travel across Vietnam during Tet holiday

(TITC) - In 6 days of Tet holiday (from 21st - 26th January 2023), Vietnam is estimated to serve 9 million domestic visitor arrivals (up about 47.5% comparing to the Tet Holiday of 2022), in which, overnight visitors reached 2 million arrivals, average room capacity is estimated at 40-45%. Tourist receipts is estimated at VND 17.5 trillion.

In the Lunar New Year 2023, the number of international visitors to Vietnam has increased sharply compared to the Lunar New Year 2023. Accommodation establishments recorded the number of bookings from international visitors reaching 30-40% of the total number of bookings during Tet.

Accordingly, Khanh Hoa Province welcomed 15 flights operated by Vietjet Air per day, each flight carried 180 to 220 passengers; 1,400 passengers from Kazakhstan, South Korea; it is estimated that the total number of international overnight visitors in 06 days of Tet will reach 11,300 arrivals; Ninh Binh Province welcomed 29,500 international visitor arrivals to famous attractions; Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen) estimates that the resorts in the city received international visitors accounting for about 40% of the total number of visitors; Ha Noi is estimated to welcome 32,000 international visitor arrivals in just 6 days of public holidays, the number of overnight tourists has increased sharply, mainly from Korea, Japan, Singapore, Canada, France; Ba Ria-Vung Tau is estimated to serve about 10,688 international overnight arrivals; Lao Cai reports to receive the total tourist receipts from international visitors of VND 23 billion,...

Regarding tourism activities at businesses and accommodation establishments, some key tourist localities have actively coordinated with airlines and travel businesses to organise events to attract international visitors such as: Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways cooperated with a number of provinces/cities to organise an event to welcome international visitors in the beginning of the year; organising welcome activities at the airport lobby, train station and New Year's lucky money.

Airlines increased the number of flights, to serve the travel demands of tourists during the Lunar New Year. At Da Nang International Airport it was estimated that during the Lunar New Year, the city welcomed 768 flights with 98,000 passengers; Phu Quoc International Airport, Rach Gia (Kien Giang) welcomed more than 400 domestic and international flights to visit and travel.

At the same time, travel agencies provided tour packages during Tet holiday with various options, in which focusing on regional advantages, linking destinations, diversifying services and experiences to increase revenue. Some travel and tourism businesses are estimated to achieve business plans in the Tet season from 85 to 100%.

In addition, businesses have actively promoted and attracted international visitors to Vietnam, highlighting the image of Vietnam as safe and friendly. In a number of key localities, with favourable weather condition, families chose to travel during the Tet holiday and celebrate New Year Eve in tourist destinations; a number of destinations are the top choices, including: cultural, historical - spiritual and ecological tourist attractions; The main audience is solo travellers, visitors travelling with family, visiting relatives, most of them stay in 3-star hotels.
