This is an ancient pagoda from the 10th century in the special protected area of ​​Hoa Lu Ancient Capital relic (Ninh Binh). There are many antiquities attachedwith the history of the Hoa Lu Capital in this pagoda, especially the stone scripture pillar in front of the pagoda.

The pagoda is located on an area of ​​over 3000 square meters. After a period of restoration, Nhat Tru pagoda iscurrently a unique artistic space with its own architecture. In this pagoda, people worship Mother Goddess, Thanh Hien, Duc Ong, 3 Tam The statues and an Amitabha statue. After nearly thousand years, the scriptures pillar in the courtyard remains intact. The pillar was made of stone, has an octagonal body and a stone budding lotuson the top. TheBuddhist scriptures were carvedon eight sides of the pillar functioning as a prayer book.

The monument is the place marking many historical events that contribute to the victory of our people in the resistance war against France and American. At present, Nhat Tru pagoda is still the place of spiritual activities of  village’s people and tourists, where interesting festivals take place. Every year, on January 15, at the pagoda, there is a worship ceremony to pray for peace of the nation. With these values, the pagoda was classified as a national cultural - history relic by the Ministry of Culture and Informationin 1998.
